shirat This SKOTW album has experimental electronic sounds and jazzy percussion with a little humor mixed in. It’s like what if Ween never woke up and was in a perpetual liminal subconscious state and never actually got to realize their completed vision. Relaxing sounds of looped illegal skateboarding ushers you in and leads you out at the end, like an accidental soundscape on the Calm app.

What's your favorite thing about skateboarding? What's your favorite thing about skateboarding? Um. Skateboarding is not a hobby. And it's not a sport. Skateboarding is a way. Skateboarding is a way. Skateboarding is a way or learning how to redefine the world around you. The world around you. The world around you. It's a way of getting out of the house. Connecting with other people. And seeing the world through different sets of eyes. The world through different sets of eyes. Now that is what skateboarding is all about. Now that is what skateboarding is all about. So I became a skateboarder. So I became a skateboarder. And I like to throw down the big, fat ollie-one-foot. But I thought, "let's ride it." But I thought. But I thought, "let's ride it." Let's ride it. Let's ride it. When you go out skating the street watch out for rocks and cracks. Watch out for rocks and cracks. Watch out for rocks and cracks.

Anyway, it's been a lot of fun. Thank you for spending your birthday, my birthday, with me. And remember to always keep one foot in the gutter. One foot in the gutter. One fist in the gold. In the gold. In the gold. In the gold. Anyway, it's been a lot of fun. Thank you for spending your birthday, my birthday, with me.

Lyrics: I left my friends behind me I fought in a war and I left my... and in this war, you and I, unite against the world... the world behind me... Unite against the world... Unite against the world behind me... And in this war, we fight, you and I, unite against the world. Do you hear something outside... Window boy. Stay away from that window boy.

about

"Live drums and analog synths make up these impossible-to-pin-down songs which run from jazz to music concrete & back" - Bandcamp.com "New & Notable"

#2 on WFMU's "Cassette Top Ten" for May 2023.

This is the first cassette release from Style King of the Week.

This collection of songs is a skateboard ride through our hometown (where skateboarding was illegal), and a night swim through a lifetime of music obsessions.

Made with live drums, synth bass, and manipulated cassette tapes, we tried to split the difference between meticulous reassembling of cherished memories, and exuberant, messy, forward-looking creation.

The journey starts, of course, on a skateboard (Cheapcross), with the thrilling / scary realization that you're breaking the law just by being a kid. It samples, with permission, reflections on skating from our childhood hero, Ian MacKaye (Minor Threat, Fugazi).

We travel through those deep / dumb discussions you can only have on long drives with old friends (Gasoline Ashes, Eerie Blvd.), take a formative first trip to a hardcore show (Prophet...) and a late night swim in the reservoir on the way home (Mt. Hope).

It's about staying up late to watch the metal video show (Yataghan), finally making a plan to get out of this town (The Oneidan), and years later, realizing that a part of you never really left.
